This is my second time creating this diving costume and although I used a ton of supplies, everything is quality material and has lasted for years. Our DIY Scuba Diver Costumes were meant to accompany our mighty sea turtle so we kept them pretty simple. With a little effort, you can make a scuba diver costume that is both fun and realistic. So get creative and start planning your costume today! Once you have your tape or ribbon belt cut to length, it’s time to add on your little scuba gear related items. I used light weight and inexpensive sponge curlers, but you could add on anything you like.

Is your child a future scuba diver? If they love bath time, swimming, or watching nature programmes, there’s a good chance they’ll swap that pacifier for a regulator one day. Help them look the part with a scuba diver costume. If you want a costume that can be worn under the water, there’s a company that makes a mertail with shark fin . For a realistic fin you can swim with, see The MerTailor . For a costume that is a little less conspicuous, or at least easier to don and doff, you could go with a squid hat. It comes in a variety of colors including red, blue, pink and rainbow. We’re still looking for institutional green so we can blend in with our surroundings. Once it's cut to length, add on the scuba gear related items. Weave the electrical tape through light weight sponge hair curlers in the colors of each outfit. It takes just moments and there is no worry of weight or scratching with them. Some store bought costumes are awesome, I’ll admit it. But the costumes that are homemade are even awesomer. When we have a family Halloween costume theme that’s DIY, the kids all pitch in and we get crafty together. The key is it doesn’t have to be complicated or expensive. Enter Scuba Steve costumes.

Next up is adding the straps to your oxygen tanks. Cut two pieces of peach felt and two pieces of green felt roughly 6″ x 7″ in size. Then measure around your kiddo’s shoulders and cut cotton rope to create the straps. Use a piece of scotch tape around each of the cotton rope ends so they don’t fray.

For an easy topside costume: simply don a red beanie , eyeglasses and a pipe. Voila! You are Jacques Cousteau. For added effect, put on a long-sleeve denim shirt and a French accent.
