About this deal

As a result, the Ghost 15 feels better during faster paces but not as comfortable during slow-paced runs. Be sure to look at the latest version of your current shoe as most popular styles tend to be slightly tweaked rather than completely redesigned when updated. At some point when I became a runner, I acquired this notion that a cushioned shoe means comfort over speed. The only concern is with the outsole, as it features less rubber, making it more prone to premature wear. Plus, Brooks has a fortified HPR Plus rubber at the heel where most of us tend to eat up the sole the hardest.

The amount of stiffness in this shoe is perfect for being responsive on your run and giving you a spring-like recoil as you push off. The tongue, like the rest of the shoe, delivers a padded feel that holds the foot in an almost cosy position – not a phrase we normally use to describe a running shoe. It’s made from multi-layer mesh and has very few 3D Fit Print overlays on the midfoot that don’t irritate the foot.

That said, the Glycerin 18 mixes in a good deal of speedy responsiveness without sacrificing too much in the way of comfort, making them ideal for harder training among runners looking for a little more shock absorption. If you’re looking for a shoe for mainly long-distance running, the Glycerin is the right choice for you. The simple fact is that a running shoe will act as a shock absorber for your muscles and joints through its cushioning. I have never run in a more comfortable shoe, and I cannot fathom that a more comfortable shoe exists on the market. The first thing you'll notice about the Glycerin 18 is that they seem to have two layers of cushioning.David P: "There is a little bit of flex at toe-off to propel you into your next step, but I didn’t notice any disadvantage to this shoe feeling less bendable.

The Glycerin has a standard fit in the heel and midfoot areas, and a wider toe box for a non-gimmick, standard running shoe. The upper is light and breathable, preventing hotspots and blisters, while still providing protection. I didn’t realize that disruptive changes in air pressure or the ancient Greek god of the sea make for good color choices in running shoes. The midsole not only does an impressive job of absorbing repeated impact, but the padded upper makes the foot feel stable and secure without being constrictive. Brooks support technologies aid high deviators by guiding their body back into their natural way of moving. Again, that is not because the Glycerin 18 is a bad shoe, I just find it lacking some things I generally look for in a trainer.

Like its predecessors, the Glycerin 18 is one of the best shoes out there for runners who want comfort above all else, both in the midsole and in the cosy upper. The Glycerin is a daily trainer, and for an experienced runner, the ride will feel a little bit slow on faster runs. Get prepared to pound the pavement with our choice of running accessories such as lights, sunglasses, GPS watches, and more. And whilst the Glycerin 18 aren’t a stability shoe, they are definitely cushioned for a comfortable run. When running in the Glycerin 19 in over 28 degree Celsius weather, in the heat of the sun, my feet were sweating profusely. The Ghost and the Glycerin are two shoes known for their high levels of stability and the Ghost and Glycerin continue the trend.
