About this deal

Use the process above to remove the dust cup from the vacuum’s body, empty it into a bin, then with the lid open rinse the cup in cold water (don’t use any cleaning products or a dishwasher). The included motorised head may be good for gathering animal hair, but it proved just as proficient at picking up problematic spillages in our controlled tests. As we’ve mentioned earlier, the Shark Handvac CH950UKT has a mini motorised pet tool with bristles for pulling up hair. Note: Some of the handheld vacuums we’ve reviewed have tools that are built into the vacuum, meaning that they are always easily available. The CH950UKT is not one of these vacuums – it’s a more powerful handheld, but lacks the convenience and style of models like the Shark WV200UK or Hoover H-Handy.

For comparison, the vacuum feels much more balanced than smaller models like the Black+Decker Pivot. With that said, we tested the Shark CH950UKT and found it lasted around 13 minutes with the motorised pet tool attached (although this is without active cleaning). The WV200UK is designed to be kept on display in its docking station for quick clean-ups, while the CH950UKT is less stylish but provides better cleaning performance.

And of course, even if you don’t have pets, it’s great for all those little cleaning jobs around the home where you don’t want to drag a big heavy vacuum cleaner back and forth. Read our full, expert review to find out how well this handheld vacuum cleaner performed in our tests. The only tricky bit I found was pulling the end off to put an attachment on, when other bits were released by buttons, but my grandson soon sorted that for me! as real users, posing a threat to a site’s security, so the site sometimes runs random security checks.A third generation family company with decades of experience, their parent company, Euro-Pro, originated in Europe, moved to Canada and are now based near Boston, Massachusetts.

For example, the dual foam filters need to be pulled out by hand, rather than removing them using a plastic frame. It’s intended for short bursts of cleaning, so it doesn’t need the same level of performance as an upright or cordless vacuum. The Shark is also a bit fiddly to hold and the Hoover H-Handy 700 is better at offering a wand-like grip, although its smaller bin can’t hold as much dirt, while the Gtech Multi MK2 K9 has a more balanced feel in the hand.

There’s a recent trend of handheld vacuums designed to be displayed on kitchen worksurfaces or lounge sideboards. We liked the overall design of the CH950UKT, especially as it has an on/off button rather than a trigger system. If you need a handheld vacuum for managing pet hair between cleaning sessions with your regular vacuum, the CH950UKT is a great choice. Where I’ve seen smaller handheld vacuums get clogged and overstuffed, the Shark has a clever design that traps the debris out of the way of the suction mechanism.

Offering up to 10 minutes of cleaning time from a full 4-hour charge, the Lithium-ion battery ensures lasting power and performance, and there’s a battery light indicator that lets you know when power is low so you remember to put it back on charge when you’re done. The CH950UKT only has a regular charging cable, so you’ll need to remember to charge it after using the vacuum. Without an attachment connected, it easily gobbled up 26g of Cheerios on both carpet and hard floor. We still think the Dyson V7 Trigger has better performance, but it’s considerably more expensive – and there’s not a huge difference in cleaning power. The long design also makes it awkward to use in tight locations, such as under car seats or around PC monitors.
