But with each book I read, Alice Feeney manages to pull me out of my world ENTIRELY and I am all too willing to get lost in hers! Daisy Darker definitely had a different feel than Alice Feeney’s other books, a more classic mystery feel. These less than perfect parents, now divorced, are guilty of neglecting their children of love and more about achieving their own goals. I really can’t say much about each character, but I never expected where the story went in terms of this character, but it was intriguing to go back into the Darker past through the home movies they saw throughout this book, it definitely gives insight into what happened later in the book. Bird has grown up disavowing his mother and her poems; he doesn’t know her work or what happened to her, and he knows he shouldn’t wonder.The Victorian house with its gothic turrets and turquoise tiled roof is situated on the Cornish coast, in a spot that cuts it off from the rest of the world for eight hours, whenever the tide comes in.
