But I am already saved. For the Machine is Immortal. – Mechanicus Skitarii Vanguard Taking Cover. Credit: Pendulin Firepower– AdMech have incredibly efficient shooting, some of the best in the game. From the lowly Skitarii Ranger to the towering Ironstrider Ballistarii, and all sizes in between, this army has a lot of point-efficient ranged weapons. Hoplites and Peltasts also went up a point each. They have always hung on the edge of playable but are hampered by not having a Forgeworld tag. I feel they will continue to exist in the same space. Somethign to keep in mind is that many of these units are cheap (in points) and expensive (in dollars) at the same time. Frequently, the strongest way of taking them in spamming large units, 5x Ironstriders, 20x Skitarii, etc. This is where the money-intensive aspect of the army comes in – whatever you want to build, you are probably going to want a lot of it. It is gonig to be time-consuming to build and paint, and you are vulnerable to having a ton of expensive models that then fall out of the meta or get significantly changed in a new codex. If you love the faction that isn’t so big of a deal, but do think about it before you buy in hard. Dark Reapers get massive increases on medium and large squads, but don’t actually cross a breakpoint.

In a straight shooting match, there are few armies that can go toe-to-toe with AdMech. For Admech has a simple way of stopping some big mean greenskin from tearing them a structurally superfluous new data-port: use a gun. And if that don’t work, use more guns. The equipment can vary massively based on which Magos, Mechanicus Organisation or Forge World has raised and equipped them. There is little standardisation or central command of Skitarii across the Mechanicus, as each individual regiment is the personal army of a particular Magos. For example, the Skitarii of the Titan Legion Legio Invicta are gene-bulked humans with weaponised limbs and augmetic armour [4], whereas a different type of Skitarii investigated the dead world of Tarsis Ultra, and were seen to be wearing something similar in both function and design to Terminator armour. [2]This kit can alternatively be used to build a unit of Serberys Sulphurhounds instead, meaning that regardless of which unit you assemble, you'll end up with plenty of spare components for customising your collection. Warhammer Community: Engine War - Requisition Approved (posted 3/30/2020) (last accessed 3/30/2020) All Skitarii in your army gain the optimisation but also suffer from the deprecation. If you are clever, you can use a Skitarii Marshall to cancel out the deprecation effect on a single unit in a key turn, taking your opponent off guard.

A Psychomancer cryptek leads the force, with a unit of 10 Necron Warriors and three Scarab Swarms making up the durable centre. The real killing work falls to a Lokhust Heavy Destroyer, three Ophydian Destroyers, five Flayed Ones, and two huge Canoptek Doomstalkers. Many of these units recently received the CORE keyword as part of the Balance Dataslate , and enjoy a new lease of life**.Myphitic Blight-Haulers have gone down by 2 PL, mow making it possible to put a squad of 3 into Strategic Reserves for only 2 CP. That’s pretty neat! Kataphron Destroyers down to 7PL from 10PL for 3 models. Note that unlike for Kataphron Breachers, this PL reduction doesn’t change the CP cost of the Fresh Convert strategem or how it can be used. This is because resurrecting 3 Destroyers still costs 2CP, and resurrecting 6 Destroyers (the max) still costs 3CP. In the ever-shifting meta of 40K, armies rise and fall. We’ve spent a lot of time talking about armies that are hot or not, but a lot less time looking at units that are running the show. Today let’s take a look at one of the hottest units currently running around the tabletop. The Unit

In the second game, it did clean up half-strength or boys but failed to score hits on Gaz. 3 model units of 6 shots seems pretty bad, especially since our troops do output good damage in the longer ranges. The Plaguefester Warband is the definitive image of an unstoppable Death Guard army, with a Champion and Icon Bearer leading seven Plague Marines and three Deathshroud Terminators. Three Myphitic Blight-haulers and a Plagueburst Crawler cover their march, crushing resistance with the hellish firepower these war engines are feared for. The cybernetic Skitarii Rangers are completely subservient to the cause of the Adeptus Mechanicus, showcasing their faith in the Omnissiah through the persistent stalking of their prey. In their Warhammer 40K gameplay, Skitarii Rangers are some of the Mechanicus’ most versatile units much like the Space Marines, with both its Skitarii Ranger and a Skitarii Ranger Alpha components capable of replacing their Galvanic Rifle with a myriad of weapons. These opportunities to change weapons allow Rangers to take down troops or even vehicles with tactical precision - making them quite a steal for 9 Points per unit. So with all that said, it’s time to look at some lists we might run in 9th edition. Drill Baby, Drill

What’s Next

Praetorians: These are the elite of the Skitarii. They are super-enhanced (bionically/cybernetically/chemically/genetically etc) humans who are augmented with a huge array of cybernetics and heavy weapons. They are, essentially, a sort of counterpart to Obliterators. However, many old sources also suggest that Praetorians are instead an elite Skitarii type following the fashion of Imperial Guard stormtrooper units, but with slightly more augmentations, putting them somewhere "between" storm troopers and Space Marines. All of these are completely plausible, and based on the preferences of the Magi who build them. [Conflicting sources]

TROOPS: 10x Skitarii Vanguard (Radium Carbines, w/ your choice either Omnispex or Data-Tether) 85pts The Citadel Journal 21 (1997) - Adeptus Mechanicus Detachments: Skitarii Tech-Guard of the Forge Worlds Warhammer Community: Reveals From the Warhammer 40,000 Open Day! (Posted on 30/11/2019) (Last accessed 30 November 2019) Beasts of Nurgle held firm, so if you’re planning an army that revolves around summoning a bunch of them mid-table, you’re still good to go.Hellhounds went up to 7 PL per model, so a unit of 3 will now cost you 3 CP to put in Strategic Reserves. The biggest change here is the Doom Scythe , which drops from 11 PL to 9, now allowing it to be put into Strategic Reserves for only 1 CP. Given how versatile Aircraft can be on arrival, this is a major boost to the unit. Putting three of them into Strategic Reserves to protect them until they can show up and use Amalgamated Targeting Data is now much, much less hateful, costing only 3 CP instead of 6. Serberys Raiders are well equipped for combat at every distance, with galvanic carbines offering ranged punch and finely crafted cavalry sabres for melee combat. The squad’s alpha is also armed with a hard-hitting archeo-revolver. They make for a versatile vanguard unit, able to ride ahead of their fellow Skitarii and even snipe at enemy command assets.
