Description

With an MTBF of up to 1 million hours 3, WD Purple™ drives are engineered for mainstream surveillance DVRs and NVRs that operate 24/7. With tarnish-resistant components 3 and support for more than eight bays 4, WD Purple drives deliver reliable operation even in harsh environments. WD AllFrame technology delivers optimizations for write-intensive, low bit-rate, high stream-count workloads typical to mainstream surveillance applications H.265, also known as High Efficiency Video Coding (HEVC), was introduced in 2013 and is the latest video compression standard to be supported by newer NVRs, especially for 4K video support. Before selecting H.265, make sure that your DVR/NVR system supports this standard.

Western Digital DATA SHEET SURVEILLANCE HARD DRIVES - Western Digital

WD Purple™ drives feature a workload rating of up to 180TB/year 2 - up to three times that of desktop drives - to handle the unique demands of mainstream video surveillance DVR and NVR systems. Single stream at 3.2Mbps (1080p, H.265, 25 fps) for WD22PURZ, WD33PURZ, WD42PURZ, WD43PURZ, WD60PURZ, WD62PURZ, WD63PURZ, WD64PURZ, WD84PURZ and 2.6Mbps (720p, H.265, 25 fps) for WD10PURZ, WD20PURZ, WD30PURZ, WD40PURZ. Results may vary depending on camera resolution, file format, frames per second, software, system settings, video quality, and other factors.

Workload Rate is defined as the amount of user data transferred to or from the hard drive. Workload Rate is annualized (TB transferred ✕ (8760 / recorded power-on hours)). Workload Rate will vary depending on your hardware and software components and configurations. Actual user capacity may be less depending on operating environment. As used for storage capacity, 1TB = one trillion bytes. Actual user capacity may be less, depending on operating environment.

Enhanced Workload Ratings

I'm using this to increase the capacity of my Swann 8580 series NVR surveillance system. It won't allow anything larger than 6 terabytes and it came with a 2 terabyte hard drive.

WD Blue: son discos todo-terreno, para todo tipo de usos no específicos, su rendimiento varia en función de las RPMs que use (desde 5.400 hasta 7.200). MTBF specifications are based on a sample population and are estimated by statistical measurements and acceleration a With an MTBF of up to 1 million hours 3, WD Purple drives are engineered for mainstream surveillance DVRs and NVRs that operate 24/7. With tarnish-resistant components 7 and support in storage systems with more than eight drive bays 4, WD Purple drives deliver reliable operation even in harsh environments. En mi caso, compré un Purple porque su uso va a ser almacenamiento de datos y copias de seguridad en un servidor casero que está casi siempre encendido, así que es perfecto para este uso.through 3TB (WD30PURZ) support up to eight bays; 3TB (WD33PURZ) and 4TB and above support up to 16 bays. MTBF specifications are based on a sample population and are estimated by statistical measurements and acceleration algorithms under typical operating conditions: workload of 90TB/year and drive temperature of 40°C. Derating of MTBF will occur above these parameters, up to 65°C drive temperature. MTBF does not predict an individual drive’s reliability and does not constitute a warranty. WD Green: son los que consumen menos, hacen menos ruido y generan menos calor, pensados para HTPC y equipos multimedia de salón. WD Purple drives feature a workload rating of up to 180TB/year 2 - up to three times that of desktop drives - to handle the unique demands of mainstream video surveillance DVR and NVR systems.

H.264, also known as Advanced Video Coding (AVC), was introduced in 2003 and is an efficient video compression standard commonly used for HD video (720p and 1080p) and Blu-Ray discs. MJPEG is an older standard for video compression. First used in the mid 1990s, it is less efficient and is likely the more common standard for lower resolution video.
